St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School is an independent day and boarding school for over 1500 girls from Kindergarten to Year 12. We provide girls with opportunities to pursue personal and academic excellence in a respectful and supportive environment.
Our Boarding Housemothers play a vital role in creating a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment for our boarders. They ensure that our boarders are safe and supported, assisting them to manage the many demands of living away from home. As a positive role model, the Boarding Housemother helps the girls adhere to set guidelines with regards to daily schedules, school attendance, meals, prep, and all leave arrangements over the course of the weekend. Building robust, respective relationships with boarding students is central to the role, along with maintaining positive and effective communication with boarders, families and staff.
The Boarding Housemother supervises the students during all out of school hours during school terms and provides pastoral care that aims to support and guide the wellbeing of students.
This role is fulltime (term time) for the remainder of 2026, with the possibility of becoming ongoing. The role involves working on a roster system which is confirmed at the beginning of each term.
Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:
- Supervision of boarding house students outside of school hours on a rostered basis, including across some weekends.
- Overnight stays at the boarding house.
- Managing specific needs and events for the girls, including boarders’ camps where required.
- Supporting students’ emotional and academic wellbeing.
Essential qualifications (to be gained upon successful placement):
- Senior First Aid Certificate.
- Working with Children Check.
- National Police History Check
Previous experience in a boarding house setting or school environment will be well regarded, although not essential.
