About the Client

South32 together with WorkPac are commencing recruitment for Operators to promote the equality of its workforce at Groote Eylandt Mining Company (GEMCO) in the Gulf of Carpentaria. South32 GEMCO is seeking experienced Multi-Skilled Operators to join our mining operations on Groote Eylandt. This is a FIFO role from Cairns or Darwin on a 7:7 roster, working 12.25-hour shifts across a day/night rotation.

In this role, you will be responsible for safe and efficient operation of a range of mining equipment across load and haul and ancillary activities. Candidates must demonstrate strong production focus, adherence to site safety standards, and the ability to work within a high-performing team setting.

What you will be doing

- Operate multiple pieces of heavy mining equipment in a production environment

- Maintain high safety and operational standards in line with site procedures

- Complete pre-starts, fault reporting, and basic machine care

- Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members to achieve production targets

Equipment Experience Required:

- Haul Trucks (e.g. CAT 777, 785, 793)

- Excavators (e.g. Hitachi EX1200, EX1900, EX3600)

- Loaders (e.g. CAT 992, 993)

- Dozers (e.g.



CAT D10, D11)

- Graders (e.g. CAT 16M/24M)

- Water Carts

What you will need

- Proven experience operating multiple machine types in a mining environment

- Relevant RII competencies or equivalent tickets

- Current Australian Driver’s Licence

- Ability to pass pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening & Police clearance

- Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
