Role Description The Occupational Therapist will provide assessment, intervention, and ongoing support to clients, with a particular focus on functional skills for daily living, sensory processing, and fine motor development. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting standardized and informal assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and delivering evidence-based therapy sessions to children and other clients as needed. The role involves collaborating closely with speech therapists, families, educators, and other health professionals to create integrated care plans, as well as maintaining detailed clinical documentation and progress reports.
The Occupational Therapist will also participate in case discussions, contribute to service planning, and educate caregivers on strategies to support therapy goals at home and in school settings. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Canberra.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong skills in Occupational Therapy and Rehabilitation, including assessment, treatment planning, and evidence-based intervention.Candidates should possess foundational knowledge in Medicine and related health sciences to understand diagnoses, comorbidities, and holistic client care.Candidates should possess effective Communication skills for collaborating with clients, families, and multidisciplinary team members.Candidates should possess experience or interest in Pediatrics, including working with children, adolescents, and their caregivers.Relevant qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, current professional registration or eligibility in Australia, and experience in clinical or community settings.Additional beneficial skills: ability to develop transparent documentation and reports, familiarity with sensory integration approaches, strong organizational and time-management skills, and commitment to culturally safe, inclusive practice.
