Accountant Location: Mascot, Sydney, NSW Company: Konnecting Group Salary Package: $75-k$80k base plus SGL Super About Us Konnecting Group is a dynamic and growing organisation with a diverse portfolio of entities, including a Partnership, Trusts, several Pty Ltd companies, multiple businesses and a Self-Managed Super Fund (SMSF). We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accountant to manage and oversee the financial operations of our group. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the strategic financial management of a multi-entity organisation.
Key Responsibilities - Financial Management: Oversee and manage the financial operations of the Konnecting Group entities, including Partnership, Trusts, several Pty Ltd companies, and SMSF.
- Compliance & Reporting: Prepare quarterly Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Monthly Income Activity Statements (IAS). Ensure compliance with all relevant tax obligations, including PAYG, GST, Payroll Tax, CGT, and Income Tax.
- Business Structure Review: Review the Group's business structure and provide advice on reconstruction and tax implications.
- Advise on complex trust structures and corporate entities - Payroll Management: Review the current payroll system (ADP) and evaluate alternative systems. Manage all payroll-related HR administration, including new employee setup and changes to employee data.
- Accounting Systems: Review and assess the current MYOB Accounting system for potential changes and integration implications.
- Liaison & Coordination: Liaise with the External Accountant and other stakeholders to prepare Annual Financial Statements and Tax Returns for all entities.
- Investment & Financing Analysis: Conduct analysis of investment options for the SMSF and review financing and commercial loans.
- Share Investment: Analyse opportunities for business share and/or property investments, including financial modelling.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts, reports, and analysis, including variance analysis (actual vs. budget, actual vs. forecast) and cash flow reporting.
- Asset Management: Maintain fixed asset registers, provide fixed asset depreciation schedules, and perform impairment reviews for intangible assets. Provide recommendations on the disposal of fixed assets.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of financial information for the annual budget process, including budgeting and forecasting.
- Policy & Procedure Development: Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures to management.
- Confidentiality & Compliance: Reinforce financial data confidentiality and ensure compliance with ATO and ASIC regulations. Implement the latest changes and monitor progress.
- Supervise Accounting Assistants staff (AP/AP/Payroll) - Liaise with external advisors - Ad Hoc Duties: Perform other related accounting duties and ad hoc tasks as required.
Qualifications & Experience - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA or CA qualification preferred - Extensive experience in managing financial operations for multiple entities, including Partnerships, Trusts, and Pty Ltd companies.
- Strong knowledge of Australian tax laws and regulations, including experience with BAS, IAS, PAYG, GST, and other tax obligations.
- Understanding of Division 293 tax and its implications on super contributions for high-income earners.
- Detailed understanding of Self-Managed Super Funds (SMSF) and tax strategies.
- Understanding of trusts and partnerships, including their tax implications.
- Familiarity with Fringe Benefits Tax, corporate tax, and Payroll tax.
- Proficiency in MYOB, XERO and other accounting software systems.
- Experience with payroll systems (ADP preferred) and HR administration.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to conduct financial analysis and reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial management.
- Ability to liaise effectively with external accountants and other stakeholders.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality in handling financial information.
