Hi, we're the VicVet Emergency & Referral Team,

VicVet offers multidisciplinary veterinary services under one integrated banner, delivering Primary Care, Emergency & Referral services to Melbourne's northern growth corridor.

Our purpose-built hospital is growing, and we're looking for enthusiastic Animal Attendants who are passionate about animal welfare and take pride in maintaining an exceptional hospital setting.

Animal Attendants are an integral part of our team. While you won't be providing clinical nursing care, your work directly contributes to patient wellbeing, infection control and the smooth operation of our hospital.

About the Position We're looking for Animal Attendants who enjoy working in a rapid-paced hospital environment and understand that exceptional patient care starts with exceptional hospital standards.





This role is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and biosecure environment while supporting the nursing team with the day-to-day care and comfort of our patients.

You'll play a vital role in ensuring every patient has a clean, comfortable and low-stress workplace throughout their stay.

Key Responsibilities

- Maintaining hospital cleanliness to the highest infection control and biosecurity standards.
- Cleaning, disinfecting and preparing kennels, cages and feline condos for new patients.
- Feeding, watering and providing enrichment for hospitalised patients as directed.
- Walking dogs and assisting with basic patient husbandry.
- Monitoring patient comfort and reporting any concerns to the nursing team.
- Assisting nurses with patient transport and non-clinical support tasks.
- Cleaning and restocking treatment areas, wards and consulting rooms.
- Laundering hospital bedding and maintaining clean patient environments.
- Following strict cleaning protocols, disinfectant procedures and isolation requirements.
- Supporting the wider hospital team to ensure efficient daily operations.

What You'll Need to Succeed

- A genuine passion for animal welfare.
- Previous experience as an Animal Attendant,



Kennel Hand or in a veterinary or animal care environment is highly regarded but not essential.
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in maintaining exceptionally clean workspaces.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy, fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and a positive, team-first attitude.
- Ability to follow protocols and maintain high standards of infection prevention and biosecurity.
- Confidence handling dogs and cats safely and compassionately.
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency is required for this position.
