Applications Engineer - Electrical Engineering | Switchboards & Power Distribution****About the Company

With more than 40 years of successful operation, they specialise in the design and manufacture of LV Switchboards, MV Switchgear, Transformer Kiosks and Modular Switchrooms, delivering projects across the Industrial, Infrastructure, Utilities, Mining and Commercial sectors.

Due to continued company growth, we are recruiting for an Applications Engineer to join the business to support the Sales and Estimating team by developing innovative and commercially competitive electrical solutions for major projects across Australia.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the National General Manager - Sales, this position will see you working closely with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders. The position will see you play a key role in preparing technical proposals and ensuring engineering solutions are practical, compliant and aligned with manufacturing capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop technical solutions for LV switchboards, MV switchgear, transformer kiosks and modular switchrooms.
- Review customer specifications, drawings and scope documentation.
- Prepare preliminary engineering documentation, including layouts, single-line diagrams and equipment schedules.
- Assist with tenders, quotations and technical proposals.
- Participate in customer meetings and design reviews.
- Identify value engineering opportunities to improve project outcomes.
- Assess supplier and OEM quotations, including technical compliance, pricing and lead times.
- Liaise with suppliers and the National Product Manager to ensure solutions align with standard designs and manufacturing processes.




- Work closely with engineering, production, procurement and project teams throughout the proposal process.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and assist with project handovers to delivery teams.

About You To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you will hold the following qualifications, skills and attributes:

- Electrical Engineering Degree or Diploma.
- Experience in Applications Engineering, Estimating or Technical Sales.
- Experience with switchboards, switchgear or electrical power distribution systems.
- Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Working knowledge of Australian Standards, including AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZS 61439.
- Strong communication, problem-solving and organisational skills.
- Commercial awareness with an understanding of pricing, project risk and value engineering.
- A practical, solution-focused approach with the ability to work both independently and within a collaborative team.
