The itch you’ll scratch
You know your way around underground gear and you want a roster, a rate and a crew that respect that.
This Auto Electrician role will put you in the heart of high‑performing underground operations, working on jumbos and loaders in a tight‑knit team that backs each other in.
It’s for experienced underground Auto Sparkies who like variety in swings, never say no to a bit of overtime, and want the stability of a well‑run maintenance contractor that’s serious about safety and culture.
Why this will appeal
- Up to $85/hr + super on all hours worked
- FIFO from all capital cities, with multiple swing options: 2&1, 8&6 and 2&2
- 5 weeks of annual leave, so you can properly switch off
- Well‑maintained underground fleet – jumbos and loaders including Sandvik and Atlas rebuilds
- Great team culture where trades are listened to, not micromanaged
- Strong focus on safety, reliability and doing the job right the first time
This is the sort of gig that suits Auto Electricians who like big toys, clean paperwork, and a site that doesn’t treat them like a number.
What you’ll be doing
- Diagnosing, repairing and maintaining electrical systems on underground jumbos and loaders
- Supporting client rebuilds on Sandvik and Atlas equipment, from fault‑finding to commissioning
- Preventative maintenance, breakdown response and occasional project work across the underground fleet
- Working closely with HD fitters and other trades to keep machines online and production rolling
- Contributing to a strong safety culture – JSA’s, reporting and looking out for your mates
You’ll be using your experience to make practical calls on the tools, not sitting behind a desk. The kind of person who thrives here
You’re a trade‑qualified Auto Electrician who’s comfortable underground and knows how to keep heavy mobile plant alive when it matters.
You like a straight‑talking supervisor, a explicit plan for each swing, and a roster that gives you both money and lifestyle.
Must haves
- Auto Electrical Trade qualification (Australian recognised)
- Current National Police Clearance (or able to obtain one)
- C‑Class manual driver’s licence
- FIFO‑ready and okay with swings such as 2&1, 8&6 and 2&2
Nice to have:
- Cert II in Automotive Air Conditioning
- Underground mining experience on jumbos, loaders or similar heavy equipment
- Solid fault‑finding skills on modern electrical and monitoring systems
If you’re the person other tradies call when a tricky electrical fault shows up in the decline, you’ll fit right in. How to scratch the itch
