Clinical Nurse Specialist - Remote Area, Cape Barren Island (504662L2) Department of Health – Hospitals & Primary Care – North Region – Primary Health North Details - Award: Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Award, Registered Nurse, Grade 5 - Salary: $109,767 to $115,813 per annum (pro‑rated) - Employment Type: Fixed‑term, part‑time - Region: North - Location: Flinders Island Multi‑Purpose Centre Role Overview The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) provides primary and emergency care to the community of Cape Barren Island, supporting health promotion, illness prevention, treatment, and community development. The CNS works on the island from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays and is on‑call for emergencies outside those hours, with a roster that includes 8‑day on‑island shifts. Flights to and from the island are supported, and accommodation is supplied free of charge during duty.

Position

Features - On‑call requirement - Living on the remote island when rostered on duty Essential Qualifications - Registered Nurse, registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia - Excellent clinical and assessment skills, with high proficiency in triage and emergency care - Ability to work autonomously, supported via telephone or telehealth - Knowledge of, and experience with,



Aboriginal health issues and culturally protected practice - Flexible and adaptable, able to respond effectively to clinical and non‑clinical situations - Current driver’s licence Desirable Qualifications - Post‑graduate qualification in remote area nursing or primary health care - Recent experience in an emergency department at a tertiary level hospital Appointment Details The role is a fixed‑term, part‑time position (up to 19 hours per fortnight) with on‑call responsibilities. Hours and terms are to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
