Job Summary:
We’re excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated commissioning engineer to join our Melbourne team. In this pivotal role, you are accountable for the management and safe commissioning of power generation engineered projects, responsible for preparation of commissioning procedures and provision of engineering technical services and application support for power generation related products.
What You'll Do:
- Perform full pre-commissioning through to final commissioning of diesel generator systems.
- Execute cold and hot testing including load bank tests (resistive, reactive, step load), black start and closed transition tests, and Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) and switchboard sequence testing.
- Perform and validate system integration with datacentre electrical distribution, UPS systems and static transfer switches, BMS/SCAD/PLC controls, and power management systems (PMS).
- Carry out reliability and performance testing specifically with the requirement of datacentres.
- Troubleshoot, optimise, fine tune and validate all the datacentre genset room systems including electrical, mechanical, fuel, control, exhaust, colling, ventilation, etc.
- Produce commissioning procedures, test scripts, as-built documentation, and hand-over packs. Ensure compliance with AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 3010, ISO 8528, local EPA requirements, and applicable datacentre safety policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with customers, fellow project managers, OEMs, contractors, consultants, and CAPS electrical and mechanical engineers as required to effectively complete projects.
- Provide operator training and technical support post-handover.
- Report project status to all stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in power generation, electrical or a related engineering field (electrical highly desirable).
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within industrial or engineering sectors.
- Strong mechanical, electrical and/or power generation knowledge.
- Experience with mission critical power systems (preferably datacentres).
- Understanding of UPS-Generator interaction and harmonic considerations.
- Ability to interpret schematics, SLDs, control logic, and OEM manuals. Solid diagnostic skills for both control systems and mechanical systems.
- Able to work high percentage of weekly work hours on customer sites. Open to long distance travel, either interstate or to remote areas.
- High awareness of safety in high energy, live environments.
