PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

The primary objective is to play an active role in the development of migrant communities and provide support to maximum number of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) people.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:

- Provide professional support to assist all MCNT clients who access the MCNT’s Front Counter service, including those not eligible through DSS funded programs, and refer MCNT clients to relevant service agencies as required.
- Provide information and services for the multicultural community including individuals, families, and community groups, with specific focus on addressing the needs of recently arrived humanitarian entrants, business and skilled migrants and their dependents and international students, with the aim of enhancing settlement outcomes and retaining these cohorts in the Territory.
- Prepare weekly newsletters and email promptly.
- Maintain MCNT Calendar of Events.
- Supervise MCNT support programs as required and source funding for the development and production of new and updated relevant information resources, publications, brochures and online information useful for migrants and refugees, the multicultural community and other relevant stakeholders.
- Foster productive relationships with community groups and development of inter-agency partnerships and synergies for client-focused service delivery efficiencies with sharing of information, human and physical resources.
- Perform ad hoc duties and support other staff as required.





SELECTION CRITERIA:

1. A degree in Social Work/Community Work or other relevant tertiary qualification with equivalent experience.

2. Should have a proper visa with work rights for the duration of the employment.

3. Extensive knowledge and experience in working with people from CALD communities, including recently arrived humanitarian entrants.

4. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage time and conflicting workplace responsibilities.

5. Highly developed qualified communication and interpersonal skills to enable engagement with CALD families and communities.

6. Demonstrated experience and ability to use computer software applications, particularly MS-Word, MS-Excel and other related programs

7. Ability to work autonomously and as an effective member of a team.

8. Hold a valid First Aid Certificate, Police Clearance and working with children (Ochre card) or willingness to obtain them before commencing the role.

9. Flexibility to work after hours and weekends when required.

10. Current driver’s licence and access to a personal vehicle.
