Melbourne
HarvestStack has proven that when you connect the right fishers, farmers, chefs and buyers, valuable things happen. Trust builds. Quality improves. People care more about what they’re buying and selling. To date, that’s been driven by strong, direct relationships, and complicated inefficient supply chains. We are transforming this into the scalable digital backbone of a better food system. HarvestStack is entering a new phase. Demand is growing. The platform is live. The opportunity is real.
The challenge is simple: how do we scale our strong relationships without losing what makes them work? This role exists to solve that problem. The role At its core:“You create meaningful, repeatable opportunities for the people who produce food and the people who work with and eat it to connect, build trust, and trade together.” The majority of your time (around 70%) will be spent in market with chefs, buyers, and venues; the rest will be establishing scalable ways for customers to engage.
Your key output will be building relationships that translate into real usage of the platform. Your primary focus is on the buy side of the network, understanding how they operate, what they need, and how HarvestStack becomes part of their day-to-day.
You will: Spend time in market with customers, restaurants, producers, events Build a consistent cadence of engagement that strengthens relationships over time Design and run our engagement strategy, using ambassadors, events, great contentetc Bring the brand to life through real-world and digital activations Turn conversations into insight, and insight into action You’ll report to our Growth Lead and share accountability for the commercial performance of the business. You’ll work in a small team and closely with the founders, but spend most of your time with our customers. While there are clear responsibilities, you can expect to hustle as a team when the moment calls.
This is not a desk role. What success looks like In your first 90 days: You understand the business, the customers, how we operate, and what we exist to do You’ve shaped an engagement strategy, and have started to execute We’re seeing early signals: inbound enquiries, engagement, and momentum Beyond that, you will be responsible for: Growth Support Increased inbound enquiries Stronger conversion of relationships into consistent platform usage Customer Trust Deeper,
more meaningful customer relationships Habitual engagement with HarvestStack. Community & Brand Strong, positive customer sentiment A visible, trusted presence in market A pipeline of meaningful engagement opportunities What a great week might look like You’ve had 10–20 meaningful conversations with customers over great coffee, the pass, or on the phone You’ve learned at least one actionable insight and shared with the team You've joined the team on a field trip to a farm or fishing trip You’ve created or progressed an opportunity for people to connect at scale Content is live and getting genuine engagement The team feels momentum, and you’ve helped create it What this looks like in practice Most of your week is spent in-market or speaking directly with customersmaintaining a steady rhythm of conversations, follow-ups, and visits that keep customers engaged and moving forward.
You help onboard customers, and get them comfortable from initial interest → first order → consistent use over time You capture content naturally in the environments you’re already in You support and run events that bring producers and buyers together You spend time with producers alongside the team to build shared understanding You act as our eyes and ears in market, feeding insight back into product, ops, and growth How this role works This is a high-trust, high-autonomy role. You’ll work with ambiguity and move confidently with ~80% of the information You’ll balance thinking and doing, strategy and execution You’ll spend a lot of time out, not behind a screen You’ll build systems where they don’t yet exist You’ll move quickly, test, learn, and improve Your job is to help turn 1:1 relationships into something that scales. This role sits right next to the commercial heartbeat of the business.
Your work should directly result in growth through better engagement and outcomes for customers. What you need to be effective You can build trust quickly with all kinds of people You communicate clearly, in person, on the phone,
and in writing You can take an idea and turn it into something real You work independently without losing alignment You understand how relationships drive commercial outcomes You don’t need to be an expert on day one.
You do need to be able to figure things out. Who thrives here Maybe you’ve worked in hospitality. Maybe you grew up on a family farm. Or maybe you just genuinely care about excellent food and where it comes from.
You’re someone who: Is naturally good with people, without forcing it Doesn’t wait for permission to act Can turn loose ideas into structured execution Cares about great food, people, and the environment Enjoys building something from nothing and working hard to change things for the better Warm, but grounded Persuasive, but not salesy Independent, but collaborative You’re comfortable walking into a busy kitchen and having a real conversation. You probably prefer to be in a venue than sitting behind a laptop. Who this is not for This role won’t suit you if you: Need structure and constant direction to perform Prefer internal work over being out with customers Confuse relationships with being overly social or unstructured Struggle to turn conversations into outcomes The biggest mistakes in this role: Being busy without a clear tie to commercial outcomes and impact Driving activity without stronger relationships, retention, or growth Treating relationships as transactions Hard-selling products or platforms instead of building trust You’ll help build a brand, community and industry changing platform from the ground up You’ll design an engagement system, not inherit one You’ll work directly with experienced founders, advisors and Board on strategy Join a driven small team, that believes high performance is an outcome of balance Benefit from real autonomy and ownership You’ll share in the upside of an early-stage company through structured share distributions More broadly, you’ll play a key role in rebuilding a food system with genuinely better outcomes for people, the planet, and plate.
