Data Governance Analyst (12 Month Parental Leave Cover)Hi, we’re PEXA. Every time a house is bought, sold or refinanced in Australia your lawyer, conveyancer and lender will most likely use a digital platform to settle your property. PEXA’s data governance and digital settlement platform helps ensure data is accurate, secure and compliant as part of the property settlement process.

Role overview: This is a 12 month parental leave cover to ensure PEXA’s data is accurate, well-managed, and compliant in Australia and the UK. You’ll apply governance practices day-to-day, catalogue data, tag data for privacy, support privacy requirements, monitor data quality, and clearly record data ownership. You may participate in activities such as ISO 27001 readiness and evaluating data governance tools, while maintaining continuity of work during the leave period.

Flexibility: We’re open to part-time arrangements if suitable.

Responsibilities

- Maintain relevant metadata using the data dictionary, ensuring data is tagged and masked where appropriate.
- Apply data governance and privacy controls to daily activities and projects; educate and encourage stakeholders to adopt governance practices.
- Collaborate with Risk, Security, Legal, and Regulatory Affairs to confirm data governance, security and regulatory requirements for new initiatives.
- Prepare evidence for ISO 27001 audits and support data governance tooling assessments.
- Support data cataloguing, ownership assignment, and ongoing data quality monitoring across the business and, where relevant, the UK entity.

Key capabilities / Qualifications

- Attention to detail in data management, including comfort with data dictionaries, tagging, and masking processes.




- Understanding of governance and compliance requirements across applicable legislation (e.g., GDPR, AU Privacy Act) and practical application to a global business.
- Strong collaboration skills;

experience working with Risk, Security, Legal, and business teams to achieve outcomes.

- Curiosity and adaptability; willingness to learn new tools and approaches, including cataloguing platforms and AI governance concepts.

What success looks like in the first 6–12 months

- Evidence prepared and organized for ISO 27001 audit.
- Data management risk kept within the defined risk appetite.
- Current datasets tagged, catalogued, and owned by the right people.
- New data governance tooling assessments supported and documented.
- GDPR requirements supported effectively for the UK business.
- Smooth transition and continuity of work during the parental leave period.
