Children's Health Queensland (CHQ) is seeking an exceptional Paediatric Intensivist and proven healthcare leader to join Queensland Children's Hospital as Director, Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) .

This prestigious leadership opportunity offers responsibility for the strategic, operational, clinical, education and research performance of a world-class tertiary PICU, delivering highly specialised care to critically ill children across Queensland.

As Director, you will provide visible and influential leadership to a large multidisciplinary team, ensuring the highest standards of patient-centred care, safety, quality, innovation and workforce engagement. You will play a key role in advancing clinical excellence, strengthening statewide partnerships, driving service improvement and positioning the service as a leader in paediatric critical care both nationally and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the strategic direction, operational management and clinical performance of PICU.
- Drive excellence in patient safety, quality improvement, clinical governance and service delivery.
- Foster a high-performing, multidisciplinary culture focused on collaboration, learning, innovation and staff wellbeing.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with hospital executive, divisional leadership, clinicians and external stakeholders across Queensland.
- Support statewide paediatric critical care capability through education, outreach, retrieval and clinical leadership initiatives.
- Oversee departmental performance, workforce planning, financial sustainability and service improvement programs.
- Champion research, education and innovation to strengthen PICU's reputation as a world-leading paediatric intensive care service.
- Promote CHQ's commitment to health equity, diversity,



inclusion and improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.

About You You are an experienced specialist Paediatric Intensivist with a demonstrated track record of leading high-performing teams and complex clinical services within a tertiary healthcare environment.

Ideally, you will bring:

- Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM) or equivalent specialist qualification.
- Eligibility for specialist registration with AHPRA.
- Significant leadership experience within paediatric intensive care or a comparable tertiary critical care service.
- Expertise in clinical governance, patient safety, quality improvement and service redesign.
- Strong strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement and change leadership capabilities.
- A passion for delivering exceptional outcomes for children, young people and their families.
- Formal leadership qualifications and research leadership experience will be highly regarded.

- Remuneration package approximately $379,990 - $577,927 p.a. (pro rata) plus superannuation.
