About our family:

The family in our household consists of myself, Kate, and my husband Ade. We believe strongly in living a holistic and positive life. As a family we try to live as natural a life as possible, using mainly organic and plant-based food and products.

Ade advocates for inclusion for Disabled people through his production and training work in the screen industry. Ade had a major stroke in 2011 and now lives with vision, mobility, spacial awareness, and cognitive impairment, but this does not hold him back in achieving his vision. Ade requires full time support to help him live his life and achieve his goals.

The main purpose of the role is to provide support to the household and provide personal care for Ade as part of a team. This allows Kate to have downtime/sleep/or do her own work.

Role Responsibilities

· Personal care including toileting and showering

· Preparation of Ade’s meals in line with his dietary requirements

· Transfers

· Daily laundry and cleaning as required

· Assisting Ade to undertake his daily routine of exercise and work.

· Attending appointments or events with Ade as required.

Skills

· Personal care skills

· Familiar with transferring person who use a wheelchair user safely

· Familiar with using and travelling with a wheelchair

· Experience using Sara Steady preferred, but training can be provided.

· Able to communicate effectively and clearly.

About You





As a small, close-knit team, we value reliability and flexibility. We are looking for someone who is genuinely seeking a part-time role and has sufficient availability to assist with occasional leave and roster coverage.

The role is NOT suitable for someone who is looking to maximise hours across multiple jobs because we need you focused on Ade and your fellow team members.

· Punctuality

· Patience

· Caring attitude

· Highly Motivated

· Attention to detail

· Extremely well organised and can also work calmly under pressure

· Strong sense of initiative

· Excellent strategising and organisational skills

· Ability to work with a list

· Non-judgemental

· Physically capable

· Understanding of disability

· Experience working with Disabled people (post stroke experience highly desired)

· Knowledge and comfort with seizures (can be taught)

· Understanding of natural cleaning methods

· Sense of humour

Relevant Work Experience

· A proven track record of working with people with Disability in a support role.
