About the role

Demco Elec Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team in Rockhampton/Yeppoon QLD. This roles plays a crucial role in our construction operations. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and quotations for electrical and construction projects. This role is integral to our business success, directly influencing project profitability, pricing competitiveness, and client satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare detailed cost estimates and quotations for construction and electrical projects of varying complexity and scale
- Analyse project specifications, blueprints, and technical drawings to determine material and labour requirements
- Research and obtain pricing information from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive and accurate estimates
- Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to gather necessary project information and clarify scope requirements
- Utilise estimating software and tools to develop comprehensive project budgets and cost breakdowns
- Review contracts and tender documents to identify potential risks and cost implications
- Maintain detailed records of estimates, historical cost data, and project outcomes for continuous improvement
- Communicate estimate findings and recommendations to management and clients in a clear and professional manner
- Monitor industry trends, material costs, and labour rates to maintain competitive and realistic estimates
- Support the bid preparation process and contribute to the pursuit of new business opportunities

What we're looking for





- Proven experience working as an Estimator within the construction or electrical services industry, ideally 3+ years in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of construction practices, methods, and project costs across electrical and general building works
- Proficiency in using estimating software and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word
- Excellent numeracy skills and attention to detail when preparing cost analyses and quotations
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and architectural plans
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Solid understanding of contract terms, scope of work, and risk assessment in project delivery
- Organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
- Familiarity with Australian construction standards, regulations, and compliance requirements
- Problem-solving mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development
- Preferred: Experience in the electrical contracting sector or knowledge of electrical systems and components
