Requirements
- 3 - 5 years post admission experience as a family lawyer;
- appeared before the Magistrates Court in domestic and family violence matters;
- appeared as solicitor advocate before the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, including at compliance and readiness hearings and first return dates;
- experience preparing for and running Interim Hearings in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, either as solicitor advocate and/or instructing Counsel;
- experience preparing for and attending mediations;
- the ability to manage files with increasing autonomy;
- strong communication skills, including drafting and oral advocacy.
The successful applicant must:-
- hold a current Practising Certificate;
- hold a current driver licence and be willing to drive for work;
- hold or be willing to hold a paid Blue Card (Working with Children)
check; and
- hold or be willing to obtain a explicit criminal history check.
Your Role Will Include
- Management of files;
- Appearances in Court (both the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia as well as the Magistrates Court);
- Effective time management;
- Client management;
- Ability to work well with support staff and manage delegation of tasks within the team;
- Provision of appropriate and considered legal advice;
- Instructing counsel on complex matters in the Federal Circuit and Family Court, and the Magistrates Court
- Other tasks as delegated by the Director and Accredited Family Law Specialist.
