Are you looking for a hands-on role where no two days are the same? We're seeking motivated and reliable Farm Hands to join our team at one of Australia's leading egg suppliers. This is an ongoing casual opportunity offering full on-the-job training, making it ideal for someone who enjoys practical work, is mechanically minded, and wants to build a long-term career in agriculture. No previous farm experience is required—just a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn.
Position Details
- Employment Type: Casual.
- Roster: 5 days a week, with a rotating roster that includes weekend work.
- Pay Rate: $33.12 p/h
- Location: Lethbridge (must have reliable transport)
- PPE: Steel-capped boots; other PPE, such as steel-capped gumboots, will be provided and must remain on-site.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Farm Hand, you'll play an key role in the day-to-day operation of the farm. Your responsibilities will include:
- Packing and preparing eggs for dispatch.
- Cleaning sheds, equipment, and work areas to maintain strict hygiene and biosecurity standards.
- Conducting daily animal health and welfare checks.
- Assisting with general livestock care.
- Carrying out routine maintenance inspections on farm equipment and machinery.
- Identifying and reporting mechanical issues and assisting with basic preventative maintenance where required.
- Supporting the smooth operation of automated farm systems and equipment.
- Following all workplace health, safety, and biosecurity procedures.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is:
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to ongoing work.
- Physically fit and comfortable being on their feet throughout the day.
- Mechanically minded, with an interest in equipment, machinery, and maintenance.
- Comfortable using hand tools and carrying out routine maintenance checks.
- Willing to learn new skills through comprehensive on-site training.
- Safety-conscious and able to follow procedures.
- Flexible to work a rotating roster, including weekends.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
A current Forklift Licence is advantageous but not essential.
About the Role
This position involves working with approximately 40,000 free-range chickens, primarily within the production sheds. You'll be part of a supportive team responsible for maintaining high standards of animal welfare, food safety, and farm operations. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and takes pride in keeping equipment and facilities operating efficiently.
Important Information
- Due to the nature of this role, applicants with bird or poultry-related allergies may find this position unsuitable.
- To comply with strict biosecurity requirements, applicants must not have entered a poultry farm, piggery, or abattoir within the previous three days.
