Due to continued growth and upcoming project work, our client is seeking a mechanically minded Trades Assistant to join their onsite team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a solid mechanical aptitude who is looking to further develop their career within the mining industry.
Project Working Days & Hours
- Roster: Ad Hoc FIFO
- Shifts: Day Shift and Night Shift
- Hours: 11.5 hours paid per day (30 minute unpaid lunch break)
The Role The onsite work will be primarily across BHP operations. Our client currently operates a variety of dewatering plant and equipment including:
- Bore Pumps: Fixed & Mobile
- Centrifugal Pump Skids: Diesel Powered
- Gensets
- Bore Field Control Trailers
- Pipeline Components
The main focus of the role is to support the onsite team in ensuring dewatering plant and equipment is installed, maintained and operating at optimal performance.
Duties will include:
- Assisting Mechanical Fitters with the installation,
maintenance and repair of dewatering equipment
- Using hand and power tools safely and efficiently
- Assisting with equipment assembly, maintenance and general mechanical duties
- Preparing work areas, equipment and materials
- Conducting pre-start checks and housekeeping duties
- Following all BHP safety processes, company procedures and site requirements
- Working collaboratively with supervisors and team members to achieve project goals
- Completing all tasks safely while following instructions
The Candidate
- Demonstrated experience as a Mechanical Trades Assistant or low-level Mechanical Fitter
- Current BHP Site Induction (essential)
- Sound knowledge of BHP safety processes and site requirements
- Ability to pass Drug & Alcohol screening
- Current Australian Driver's Licence
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Clean and professional presentation
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively within a team
Highly regarded but not essential:
- Previous dewatering experience
Remuneration The pay rates below are casual pay rates and will depend on your qualifications, experience and capability.
- $45.00 – $50.00 Per Hour + Site Allowance + Nightshift Allowance if applicable
