The Opportunity
This is an outstanding opportunity for a Financial Accountant seeking to broaden their commercial experience within a dynamic and growing agribusiness.
Working closely with the Head of Finance, you will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining solid financial controls, supporting treasury and working capital management, ensuring statutory compliance and contributing to business improvement initiatives.
You will partner with operational leaders across the business, providing timely financial information and commercial insights that support both operational and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting & Compliance
- Coordinate month-end and year-end close processes.
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and supporting schedules.
- Prepare month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments and depreciation.
- Complete bank, loan, fixed asset and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Register, including capitalisation, depreciation and asset disposals.
- Assist in the preparation of BAS, FBT, income tax and statutory reporting requirements.
- Assist with audit, compliance and statutory reporting requirements.
- Assist in the administration of banking facilities, equipment finance and funding arrangements.
- Oversee the effective management of accounts payable, supplier payments and account reconciliations.
- Manage accounts receivable, customer invoicing and collections.
Reporting & Business Support
- Assist with monthly management reporting and financial analysis.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management activities.
- Perform financial analysis and provide commercial insights to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Prepare and distribute weekly KPI and operational performance reports.
- Support cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning and treasury reporting.
- Provide support to the Head of Finance across financial, commercial and strategic initiatives.
Systems & Inventory
- Support inventory accounting and reconciliation processes.
- Maintain the integrity of financial and operational data across business systems.
- Review and maintain operational rates, freight and packing charges.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting and business processes.
About You To succeed in this role, you will be highly organised, analytical and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining exceptional accuracy.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards and statutory compliance requirements.
- Sound accounting knowledge and experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger processing.
- Experience preparing balance sheet reconciliations and supporting month-end accounting processes.
- Proficiency in accounting and ERP systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, Pivot Tables and data analysis tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Demonstrated ability to organise, prioritise and manage multiple tasks whilst meeting deadlines.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement.
- Ability to work autonomously whilst contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and the development of efficient business processes.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.
Highly Regarded
- CPA or CA qualification or currently undertaking professional studies.
- Experience within agriculture, horticulture, manufacturing or other inventory-based businesses.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting and management reporting.
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite and/or MYOB highly regarded) and process improvement initiatives.
