Engineering Technician | Pre-Opening Luxury Hotel

The EQ Hotel is a new luxury hotel opening in the heart of Perth. We are seeking a technically capable Engineering Technician to join our pre-opening Engineering team and support the operation, maintenance, and reliability of the hotel’s building systems and plant.

This is a hands‑on technical role suited to someone with strong building services exposure who enjoys fault‑finding, preventative maintenance, and working in a structured engineering environment.

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will support the maintenance and performance of building services including electrical systems awareness, plumbing, HVAC interfaces, plant equipment, and general engineering systems. The role will be actively involved in pre‑opening commissioning, inspections, defect rectification, and operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities

Support preventative and corrective maintenance of building services and engineering plant

Assist with inspections, testing, and commissioning of systems and guest rooms

Undertake technical fault‑finding within competency and licensing limits

Assist licensed trades and specialist contractors as required

Complete planned maintenance tasks in line with engineering schedules

Accurately log work orders, faults, and rectification actions

Support emergency response for plant or system failures

Maintain tools, equipment, and plant rooms to a high standard

Workplace Health & Safety

Follow WHS procedures, permits to work, and isolation processes

Use PPE and tools correctly at all times

Identify and report hazards, defects, or unsafe conditions immediately





About You

Trade background, technical qualification, or solid experience in building services maintenance

Experience in hotels, commercial buildings, hospitals, or large facilities preferred

Practical understanding of HVAC, electrical systems awareness, hydraulics, and plant equipment

Confident using maintenance systems and technical documentation

Strong problem‑solving and fault‑finding skills

Safety‑focused, reliable, and methodical

Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
