Who is Bare

Bare is Australia's most highly rated end of life business - supporting Australian families through the hardest time in their life. We are a company dedicated to providing accessible, affordable end-of-life care to change the way that Australians deal with death. Our aim is to change the game in the funeral industry which has long provided expensive, traditional, cookie cutter services that don't always meet the needs of the up-to-date Australian.

By combining empathy with technology, we're creating end-of-life experiences that are easy, personalised and affordable. In only five years, we've served more than 50,000 families, have become Australia's most awarded end-of-life provider (with awards in customer service, innovation and digital disruption), and have built a team of more than 200 people committed to changing the way Australians deal with end-of-life. And we're just getting started.

As part of our growth, we're growing our Sydney team and looking for experienced team members to join.

About the role

Service Delivery Specialist (SDS) is the unified ground role at Bare. It brings together three streams of work service support, transfers, and return of ashes under one role and one career path. We've designed it this way because the people we work with don't fit into traditional funeral-industry silos. An SDS might do a transfer from a hospital in the morning, then bring real presence and empathy to a service that same afternoon. The work is varied, hands-on, and meaningful. This role suits people who take pride in helping families through one of the hardest moments of their lives. Some people in this role want breadth across all of it; others want to specialise deeply in one part. Both paths are real, and we'll shape the work to what suits you. You'll be on-site at funerals and memorials, in vans doing transfers, at residences delivering ashes, and at our hub keeping operations running at the mix that's right for you.

Key responsibilities

Service support

- On-site at funerals and memorials, supporting families, celebrants, and our service conductors.
- Set up venues, flowers,

orders of service, AV equipment.
- Operate music, slideshows, livestream and broadcaster setups.
- Carry coffins, support pallbearing, manage hearse loading and unloading.
- Read the room and provide presence without intruding.
- Remain composed and adaptable when last-minute changes arise.

Transfers

- Transfer deceased persons from the place of passing to our mortuary facilities — hospitals, aged-care, private homes, public settings.
- Work respectfully and professionally with healthcare staff, police, and coronial personnel.
- Communicate compassionately with families at the point of collection.
- Handle and transport the deceased using provided tools and training, including body lifter and stretcher equipment.
- Safely navigate stairs, limited-access locations, and complex extractions.
- Participate in an on-call roster and meet agreed response timeframes.

Return of ashes

- Coordinate the return of ashes to families across the Sydney and surrounding areas.
- Liaise directly with families to arrange the best possible return experience.
- Hand-deliver ashes at residences with the care and presence that moment requires.
- Contribute to a customer experience that is exceptional, flexible, and patient.

About you

You are:
- Compassionate, composed, and empathetic, you genuinely care about helping families through grief.
- Reliable, professional, and calm under pressure.
- Physically fit and capable of safe manual handling, including team lifts.
- Comfortable using basic technology (AV systems, music, laptops).
- A team player with excellent communication skills.
- Someone who values dignity, respect, and quiet professionalism in every task.

Experience we particularly value

- Healthcare background, nursing, aged care, hospital, ambulance, allied health.

- Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Full working rights in Australia.
- Mobile phone.
- Ability to commit to a reliable roster, including some weekend and on-call work.
- Strength and fitness to handle manual transfers as part of a team.
- Brisbane based, with capacity to cover the Brisbane region.

What's in it for me? Someone in our end-of-life team recently described their role this way: "This is the most impactful work I've ever done. I feel lucky to be able to help people that truly need support." So, there's that. We've also been named one of the 2026 Top 10 Inspiring Workplaces across Australasia — proof that our people-first culture is more than just talk. #PeopleFirst In addition, you'll get:

- A real career. We care deeply about offering progression for our high performers. As a fast growing company there will be plenty of opportunities.
- Genuine breadth. You'll work across transfers, services, ROA, and hub work. We don't believe in single-skill silos.
- Structured training. Cohort onboarding with shared baseline content, hands-on field days at memorial parks, and pairing with experienced operators.
- The chance to make a genuine human impact every day at the moments that matter most to families.

The main reason you'll join, however, is because you believe in what we do and are excited about transforming an industry that hasn't truly changed in decades.
