Join a agile game development team working on a competitive, timing-based 1v1 fighting game for PC (Steam) built in Unity. This contract role focuses on designing and implementing the core combat simulation, including the combat engine (ability system, hit detection, targeting, damage/defence resolution, buffs/debuffs, crowd control) and foundational multiplayer session, sync, messaging, and authority framework. The netcode architecture (deterministic lockstep/rollback) is already defined, with deeper rollback/prediction scheduled for a later phase.
You will be the senior technical lead for gameplay architecture during the Vertical Slice phase, collaborating with another programmer focused on UI and systems. This is an expression of interest role, contingent on grant funding, and open to Australian residents only, with preference for Queensland residents.
