We are seeking an accomplished leader with strong event or project and commercial experience to assume the critical role of General Manager, Maitland Showground and all it encompasses, as there is much more to manage than the iconic annual Maitland Show!

The Hunter River Agricultural & Horticultural Association Limited (HRA&HA;) owns and operates Maitland Showground. Activities include running the annual 3-day Maitland Show and the monthly Maitland Community Markets, as well as providing camping facilities and hiring the grounds and facilities for large events run by external organisers i.e. Caravan & Camping Expo, music event, rodeos etc..

Reporting to the Board, through the President, the General Manager will be an all-rounder who provides both strategic direction and hands-on operational leadership. Essential to the success of this role is the capacity to work with a volunteer Board and a small team of permanent staff along with a dedicated group of Committee and show volunteers.

The role will oversee financial performance, people and culture, delivery of services to stakeholders and building sustainable partnerships to ensure the long-term viability of an iconic organisation in Maitland NSW.

Experience & Credentials

- 3+ years’ experience in senior or general management
- Experience in Event and or project management
- Ideally have an agricultural, farming or rural background
- Strong track record in strategy, execution and commercial results
- Sound understanding of fiscal management and business finance
- Leadership capability that inspires trust, confidence and high performance
- Excellent communication, negotiation, resilience and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to adopt new technologies and drive efficiency
- Current Driver Licence
