The Role

Reporting to the Senior Design Engineer / Estimator, you will assist the estimation team, preparation of quotations, tenders, and submission of offers for installation projects to new and existing clients, with particular emphasis on our existing service customer base. Additionally, you will liaise with clients on the condition of their mechanical plant and control systems and make recommendations on how the performance can be improved. Liaise with subcontractors from a price and scope of works requirements.

Ability to travel to sites for inspections and investigations, site measuring, as well as completing drafting when required.

Airmaster is seeking a motivated Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Projects team in Melbourne. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent engineering graduate looking to build a career in the HVAC and building services industry, with a strong focus on mechanical drafting, BIM modelling, design documentation, and project delivery.

Working closely with our experienced Engineers, Project Managers, Estimators, and Drafting Team, you will develop your technical skills while supporting the delivery of commercial, retail, industrial, healthcare, education, and infrastructure projects. You will gain exposure to the full project lifecycle, from site surveying and concept development through to detailed shop drawings, construction support,



commissioning, and project handover.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist in the development of HVAC and mechanical services designs from concept through to construction documentation.
- Prepare and maintain 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Develop detailed BIM models for ductwork, pipework, mechanical plant, and associated services.
- Assist in the production of fabrication and shop drawings for ductwork, pipework, pump assemblies, and mechanical equipment installations.
- Prepare air and water schematics, mechanical layouts, equipment schedules, and as-built documentation.
- Participate in site surveys and capture existing building and services information for drafting and design purposes.
- Support coordination of mechanical services with architectural, structural, electrical, hydraulic, and other building services disciplines.
- Assist with ductwork and pipework sizing calculations in accordance with NCC requirements and relevant Australian Standards.
- Provide drafting and technical support to the Engineering Team, assisting with design development, documentation, calculations, equipment selections, and project coordination activities.
- Work closely with Senior Engineers and Draftspersons to gain practical experience in HVAC design, drafting, BIM modelling, and project delivery while contributing to live projects.
- Work with project teams to ensure drafting standards and project requirements are met.
- Learn and apply Airmaster drafting procedures, quality standards, and BIM workflows.
- Provide drafting support throughout project delivery, commissioning, and project handover stages.

About You The successful candidate will possess:

- Recently completed Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or related engineering qualification.
- Strong interest in HVAC, building services engineering, and mechanical drafting.
- Exposure to or experience using AutoCAD and/or Revit.




- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and organisational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative team environment.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence (or ability to obtain).
- Australian Citizenship, Permanent Residency, or unrestricted rights to work in Australia.
- Willingness to undergo a National Police Check.

Desirable Skills

- Previous experience through internships, work placements, apprenticeships, or university projects involving HVAC or building services.
- Exposure to Navisworks, BIM coordination, or other 3D modelling software.
- Understanding of mechanical systems including: Chilled water systems/ Condenser water systems/ DX and VRF/VRV systems/ Ventilation and exhaust systems
- Basic knowledge of Australian Standards and the National Construction Code (NCC).
