Hardware / Software Test Engineer (4-Week Contract)

Location: Melbourne CBD ,5 days on Site.

Hays Technology is seeking an experienced Hardware / Software Test Engineer for a short-term contract opportunity with a leading technology client. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on testing and is comfortable working directly with physical devices rather than purely web or API-based applications.

You will be responsible for validating software releases, enhancements, and bug fixes on physical hardware, ensuring devices operate reliably and perform as expected in a test environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Execute functional, regression, and integration testing on physical devices and machines.
- Validate software releases and enhancements deployed to hardware platforms.
- Create, execute, and maintain test cases and test scenarios.
- Identify, investigate, document, and track defects through to resolution.
- Perform hardware and software integration testing.
- Verify system behaviour against business and technical requirements.
- Collaborate with developers, product teams, and support teams to troubleshoot issues.
- Provide detailed test results and quality assessments.

Required Experience
- Commercial experience in hardware/software testing environments.




- Hands-on testing of physical devices, terminals, kiosks, or machines.
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and defect management.
- Experience executing functional, integration, and regression testing.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues across hardware and software components.
- Comfortable working within a lab, testing facility, or device-based environment.

- Kiosk testing environments
- POS and EFTPOS systems
- ATM systems
- Ticketing machines
- Retail, payments, or device-based technology platforms
- Other hardware/software integrated environments
