The key accountabilities of the role:
1. Recent Business Growth: Own new logo acquisition across priority segments.
2. Business Development Practice: Build and embed a single, aligned Business Development function
3. Team Leadership: Lead, Coach, and Manage a team of BDMs and Strategic Sales roles
4. Strategic Deal Leadership: Lead and support complex enterprise pursuits and major deals.
5. Customer & Market Insight: Translate government trends into sales strategy and positioning.
6. Cross-functional Alignment: Align Sales, Product, Marketing, and Delivery for improved outcomes.
7. Go-to-Market Execution: Deliver targeted GTM campaigns for ERP and Procurement solutions.
8. Strategic Growth (Existing Customers): Support ERP upgrades and expansion plays.
The key responsibilities of the role:
- Develop and execute the Business Development strategy aligned to growth targets for product and
- solutions.
- Drive new logo acquisition campaigns across defined segments.
- Lead, coach, and manage BDM direct reports.
- Support Account Managers on ERP upgrade and expansion opportunities.
- Improve pipeline quality, forecasting discipline, and deal execution.
- Collaborate with Product, Marketing, and Customer teams.
- Mentor broader team on strategic selling and stakeholder engagement.
The key requirements for the role:
1. Skills & Knowledge
- Deep knowledge of Local Government enterprise software, including ERP and Line of Business applications across councils.
- Robust understanding of Government processes, platforms, and drivers.
- Strong commercial and strategic thinking with execution focus.
- Ability to build and scale a structured BD function.
- Skilled in complex deal leadership.
- Robust coaching and leadership capability.
- Deep knowledge of strategic domains in all levels of Government including Enterprise Asset Management, Sourcing and Procurement, Governance/Risk/Compliance, and Community Services.
- Ability to articulate the value proposition of our procurement solutions tailored to the specific needs and challenges of government agencies.
1. Experience
- Proven leadership of Business Development and strategic sales teams.
- History of success in new business acquisition.
- Proven track record of selling ERP, sourcing and procurement solutions, enterprise SaaS into Local, State, and Federal Government.
- Demonstrated success in Government and regulated industries.
- Demonstrated success with public sector procurement processes, including EOIs, RFTs, and multi-stage evaluations.
