Suburban Connect is a consortium of global leaders in tunnelling including CPB Contractors, Ghella and Acciona Construction delivering the Tunnels South package on Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East, on behalf of Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA).
We have a broad range of roles available to build our diverse and inclusive workforce, including construction and engineering, planning and environmental management, corporate support, administration, communications and many others.
SRL East from Cheltenham to Box Hill is now under construction, with tunnelling to start in 2026 and trains to be running by 2035.
Suburban Connect is constructing the 16kms of tunnels between Cheltenham and Glen Waverley using 4 tunnel boring machines and a range of excavation methods. The works also include 55 cross passages, 2 tunnel portal structures, 2 station box excavations and associated supports.
As An HSE Advisor, You Will Be Expected To
- Contribute to health, safety and environmental risk assessment workshops.
- Support the delivery of the HSE audit and assurance program.
- Undertake HSE audits, inspections and compliance reviews across project teams and subcontractors.
- Review project documentation, including risk assessments, management plans and work methodologies, to ensure compliance with HSE requirements.
- Support corrective action management and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor compliance with environmental obligations and management plans.
- Assist in the development, review and continual improvement of HSE management system documentation.
- Maintain the integrity of HSE data, records and reporting to support compliance and performance monitoring.
- Support HSE communications, stakeholder engagement and reporting activities.
- Any other HSE duties as required to ensure safe, compliant and efficient project delivery.
Key Skills / Requirements
- Qualification in Health & Safety, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
- Experience with HSE management systems, audits and assurance activities.
- Knowledge of construction health, safety and environmental risks and controls.
- Auditing experience; Lead Auditor qualification (preferred).
- Experience with Rail Safety legislation is desirable
- Experience within a Tier 1 or Tier 2 company
- Data literate with robust analytical skills.
- Proficient with technology and digital management systems.
- Strong attention to detail and written communication skills.
- Client liaison and interface skills.
