About The Role

Outstanding workplaces don’t happen by accident. They’re built by people who care about creating environments where everyone feels safe, supported and empowered to thrive.

At CatholicCare Sydney, we’re looking for a workplace safety and wellbeing leader who can turn that ambition into action — shaping strategy, influencing leaders and providing practical support that makes a real difference to our people every day.

We’re seeking a Manager, Workplace Safety and Wellbeing (permanent, full time) to lead our approach to workplace safety, wellbeing, risk and injury management across the organisation.

This is a role where strategy meets action. You’ll partner with leaders to strengthen our systems, culture and capability, while also rolling up your sleeves to provide practical advice and hands-on support when our people and teams need it most.

Your Work Will Span

- Lead strategically and operationally – Drive workplace safety, wellbeing, risk and injury management while providing practical, hands-on support.
- Partner and build capability – Work with leaders and teams to embed safety and wellbeing, strengthen capability and foster a positive safety culture.
- Manage risk and injury – Strengthen risk controls, support effective injury management and return-to-work outcomes, and ensure compliance.
- Use data to drive improvement – Turn insights into action, inform decision-making and continuously improve safety and wellbeing outcomes.

About You

You’re an exprienced WHS professional who enjoys the balance of strategic thinking and practical action. You bring solid technical expertise, sound judgement and a genuine commitment to creating safe, healthy and supportive workplaces.

- Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety, Risk Management or a related field,

or equivalent experience, with experience in a WHS leadership role, including workers compensation.
- Proven experience developing and delivering workplace safety, wellbeing and risk strategies, with strong knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated experience across risk management, incident investigation, injury management and return-to-work programs.
- Solid strategic, analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to use data and insights to identify risks, inform decisions and drive continuous improvement.
- Highly developed stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence Executive and senior leaders and translate complex information into practical solutions.
- Experience building organisational safety and wellbeing capability through training, engagement and consultation, with a focus on practical, outcomes-driven support.
