About the role

Catalano Truck & Equipment Sales & Hire Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Kenwick, WA. This is a full time position offering the opportunity to work on a diverse range of heavy diesel vehicles and equipment in a dynamic automotive trades environment. You will be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing heavy-duty diesel engines, transmissions, and related systems.

This role is crucial to ensuring our fleet operates at peak efficiency and that our clients receive reliable, high-quality service.

Key responsibilities

- Diagnose and repair heavy diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, and other complex mechanical systems
- Perform routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid level checks on heavy vehicles and equipment
- Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify mechanical faults and recommend appropriate repairs
- Use diagnostic equipment and tools to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation for all work completed
- Adhere to workplace health and safety standards and regulations at all times
- Collaborate with team members and management to prioritise workload and meet service deadlines
- Contribute to the maintenance and organisation of the workshop and equipment
- Keep up to date with advances in heavy diesel technology and repair techniques

What we're looking for

- A recognised qualification or apprenticeship in diesel mechanics or heavy vehicle maintenance
- Proven experience working as a diesel mechanic, preferably in heavy vehicles, trucks, or related equipment
- Strong diagnostic skills and hands-on technical knowledge of heavy diesel engines and systems
- Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment, power tools, and specialised mechanical tools
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record




- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work independently as well as part of a team
- Good communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to clients and colleagues
