About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced ELICOS / High School Preparation Teacher to deliver engaging English language programs that prepare international students for mainstream secondary education. The successful applicant will create a supportive and inclusive learning setting while fostering students’ language development, academic success and cultural confidence.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver high-quality ELICOS and High School Preparation classes using student-centred teaching approaches.
- Develop engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum and learning outcomes.
- Teach English language skills, including reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.
- Prepare students for academic study in Australian secondary schools.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate attendance, assessment and student progress records.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of international students.
- Promote student wellbeing and encourage active participation in the classroom.
- Work collaboratively with academic staff to ensure continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
- Ensure compliance with ESOS, National Code and ELICOS Standards where applicable.

Essential Selection Criteria





- Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification.
- Recognised TESOL qualification (such as CELTA, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Master’s in TESOL, Applied Linguistics or a related field).
- Demonstrated experience teaching ELICOS or English as an Additional Language (EAL/EALD).
- Strong understanding of English language acquisition and communicative language teaching methodologies.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- Eligibility to work in Australia.

Desirable

- Experience teaching High School Preparation programs.
- Current teacher registration (where required).
- Experience working with students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of Australian secondary school curriculum and expectations.
- Experience using digital learning technologies and Learning Management Systems.
