Job Overview
Emergency Relief Assessor (x2) – Full‑time, 6‑month maximum‑term contract, Hybrid work arrangement – Sunshine Coast, SCHADS Level 3.

The Salvation Army Doorways model of care provides holistic financial support to individuals and families seeking short‑term financial assistance and ongoing management support services. The Doorways Team delivers person‑centred trauma‑informed care, facilitates short‑term assistance, and walks side‑by‑side with participants as they build skills to break the cycle of poverty.
Responsibilities
- Conduct respectful, person‑centred interviews to assess eligibility for Emergency Relief in accordance with Doorways guidelines.
- Assess client circumstances and determine appropriate support using sound judgement, empathy and best‑practice principles.
- Connect clients with internal and external support services through referrals and advocacy.
- Manage complex or sensitive matters professionally, escalating where required to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Maintain accurate, timely and confidential client records using TSA systems, including SAMIS.
- Identify and report client wellbeing or safety concerns in line with organisational policies.
- Support continuous service improvement by identifying gaps and contributing ideas to enhance service delivery.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum Certificate IV in Community Services or a related qualification (a Diploma is highly regarded).
- Demonstrated experience working within the community services sector.
- Genuine commitment to supporting people from diverse cultural, linguistic and social backgrounds.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and assessment skills.
- Ability to remain organised, adaptable, and calm in a high‑volume environment.
- Previous contact centre experience highly regarded for Phone Line Emergency Relief Assessor positions.
- Current and valid Working with Children Check.
