$195,114 to $218,910 p.a. plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and leave loading About the role The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) is seeking an Inspector to join the Regulation of Schooling Directorate in a Sydney-based role. As part of an established team of inspectors, you will play a key role in maintaining confidence in NSW schooling through the planning and delivery of regulatory inspection and compliance programs across metropolitan and regional NSW. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced education professional who enjoys balancing strategic thinking with operational delivery.

A key focus of the role is contributing to NESA's annual inspection program, while also supporting ongoing regulatory activities, compliance assessments and regulatory decision-making. Working across a diverse range of schooling sectors and stakeholders, you'll apply sound judgement, build strong professional relationships and help deliver high-quality regulatory outcomes that support education standards across NSW. On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for: Reviewing and analysing applications for non-government school registration and accreditation, provider approvals and internal reviews.

Planning and conducting on-site inspections to assess compliance against relevant legislative and regulatory requirements using a risk-based approach.

Assessing evidence, making compliance judgements and preparing recommendations relating to registration, accreditation and approval decisions.

Monitoring school registration systems and compliance monitoring processes across government and non-government schooling sectors.

Investigating compliance concerns and preparing reports and recommendations in accordance with legislation, policies and procedures.

Conducting internal reviews of decisions and recommendations.

Preparing high-quality reports, briefings,



correspondence and data to support regulatory programs and decision-making.

Providing expert advice on policies, procedures, data management, record keeping and regulatory program administration.

Building and maintaining effective relationships with a diverse range of education stakeholders to support consultation, inspections, reviews and regulatory outcomes.

Our ideal candidate will have: Demonstrated experience managing complex stakeholder relationships and navigating diverse and sometimes competing expectations within a regulatory, compliance or education setting.

Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex information, exercise sound judgement and deliver practical, evidence-based recommendations.

Experience managing multiple priorities and projects while responding effectively to emerging issues and changing operational requirements.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear reports, briefings and recommendations and communicate complex information to a range of audiences.

Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external stakeholders to achieve consistent and high-quality outcomes.

Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of current and emerging registration, accreditation, recognition and CRICOS approval legislation, policies, trends and issues.

Recent sound experience in risk-based monitoring of school curriculum and policy implementation in relation to compliance with NESA regulatory requirements.

Willingness to undertake travel across metropolitan and regional locations as required to support inspection activities,



with occasional travel occurring outside standard office hours due to operational requirements.

Essential requirements Tertiary teaching qualifications.

A NSW Driver Licence.
