About the role

Greenstaff Medical is seeking a compassionate and experienced Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse to join our team on a casual basis across all Brisbane, Queensland locations. In this critical role, you will provide high-quality, patient-centred care to critically ill patients requiring intensive monitoring and support. This position is pivotal in delivering life-saving interventions and ensuring optimal patient outcomes in fast-paced ICU environments.

Key responsibilities

- Providing direct patient care and monitoring of critically ill patients, including assessment, observation and documentation of vital signs and clinical status
- Administering medications, intravenous therapies and other clinical interventions as prescribed by medical staff
- Operating and monitoring specialised ICU equipment, including ventilators, dialysis machines, cardiac monitors and infusion pumps
- Responding promptly to patient needs and clinical deterioration, escalating concerns to medical teams appropriately
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including doctors, physiotherapists and allied health professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans
- Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation and records in accordance with professional standards and organisational policies
- Providing emotional support and communication to patients and their families during critical periods




- Maintaining a safe, clean and infection-controlled environment within the ICU
- Supporting the orientation and supervision of junior nursing staff and students where appropriate

What we're looking for

- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse
- Demonstrated experience working in an Intensive Care Unit, critical care or acute care setting
- Strong knowledge of critical care nursing principles, patient assessment and management of complex medical conditions
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting ICU-specific medical equipment and monitoring systems
- Excellent clinical assessment skills with the ability to identify and respond to changes in patient condition
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a high-pressure, fast-paced workplace
- Commitment to maintaining professional standards, infection control protocols and workplace health and safety requirements
- Current completion of CPR and First Aid certification
- Willingness to undertake ongoing professional development and training relevant to critical care nursing




- Preferred experience with electronic patient management systems and digital health records
