This recruitment process will fill one position. The successful applicant will be appointed as either an Irrigation Maintainer or Trainee Irrigation Maintainer, depending on their skills, qualifications and experience.

About the role

As part of our Irrigation Maintenance Team, you will play an important role in maintaining and improving irrigation systems across the City's parks, sports fields, streetscapes and public open spaces. Your work will support the efficient use of water resources and help ensure our community enjoys high-quality green spaces year-round.

Trainee Irrigation Maintainer

- One-Year Maximum Term Contract (Full-Time)
- $73,120.02 - $75,090.12 per annum ($1,406.15 - $1,444.04 per week) + super

As a Trainee Irrigation Maintainer, you will receive structured on-the-job training and support while developing practical skills in irrigation maintenance. You will:
- Learn irrigation installation, maintenance and repair techniques.
- Assist with inspections, repairs and routine maintenance activities.
- Work alongside experienced team members to develop industry knowledge and technical skills.
- Contribute to the maintenance of the City's irrigation assets.
- Build a foundation for a long-term career in irrigation maintenance.

Irrigation Maintainer

- Permanent Full-Time
- $80,998.62 - $82,626.69 per annum ($1,557.67 - $1,588.97 per week) + super

As an Irrigation Maintainer, you will apply your technical skills and experience to ensure the effective operation of the City's irrigation infrastructure. You will:
- Inspect, maintain and repair irrigation systems.
- Diagnose and resolve irrigation faults.




- Program irrigation controllers and monitor system performance.
- Operate and maintain plant and equipment used in irrigation works.
- Contribute to identifying improvements and best practice irrigation solutions.
- Support the delivery of sustainable water management outcomes across City assets.

What you will bring to the role: For a Trainee Irrigation Maintainer

We're looking for someone who is reliable, safety-conscious and eager to learn. You will have:

- A genuine interest in developing a career in irrigation maintenance.
- Basic literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
- Completion of Year 10 schooling or equivalent.
- A current C-Class Driver's Licence.
- A current satisfactory National Police Clearance, or willingness to obtain one.
- The ability to work outdoors and undertake physically demanding tasks.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn through structured training.

For an Irrigation Maintainer

- Holds, as a minimum a Certificate III in Irrigation Technology, or a Certificate IV in Irrigation Management, or a technical Certificate III such as Horticulture, Turf management
- Demonstrated experience in irrigation maintenance, repairs and fault-finding.
- Experience operating and maintaining irrigation systems and associated equipment.
- A current C-Class Driver's Licence.
- WA White Card.
- Current satisfactory National Police Clearance, or willingness to obtain one.
- Basic Worksite Traffic Management accreditation.
- Excavator operating ticket.
