- Southbank, Melbourne Location - Deliver high-quality news content for Victorian audiences - Fixed term contract for approximately 12 months - Base salary $96K - 103K (paid on a pro rata basis) The Role The ABC News Victorian newsroom is looking for a Journalist / Radio Sub Reader to read our daily radio news bulletins and report on stories across multiple platforms. You will help deliver high-quality news content for Victorian audiences across live bulletins, digital platforms and on-demand audio. This is a great opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative newsroom committed to high editorial standards. The Job - Work predominantly on the AM radio news reader shift, with flexibility to backfill the AM reporting shift, PM radio reader shift or work in the general reporter pool as required.
- Guide daily radio news team effort to commission, create and sub-edit compelling radio journalism that attracts and engages target audiences.
- Effectively sub-edit and produce radio news bulletins and headlines as required by the schedule, ensuring appropriate mix of state, regional, national and international stories.
- Present radio news with competence, credibility and authority primarily on morning bulletins, working other shifts on rotation or as required.
- Write and sub-edit scripts and stories that demonstrate sound journalistic craft; tell stories with impact.
- Work with colleagues to generate stories that are relevant to a broad section of Australians and reflect the cultural, geographic and socio-economic diversity of the country.
- Mentor team members where appropriate and contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture.
