The Role
As a Linehaul Operations Manager, you'll lead the day-to-day operations at our Spotswood, Melbourne linehaul terminal, ensuring freight is moved safely, efficiently and profitably while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance and customer service.
Due to the operational requirements of this role, you will be required to work a combination of early starts (6:00am) and late finishes (6:00pm). Flexibility to work these hours is essential.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, managing and developing operational staff to ensure safe, compliant and effective day-to-day operations.
- Applying and maintaining safety and compliance systems across all operational activities, including Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management, Dangerous Goods, load restraint, weight and dimension compliance, PPE and NHVR requirements.
- Planning and coordinating labour resources, rosters and operational activities to ensure customer and service requirements are achieved safely.
- Working closely with the Control Tower to execute freight and equipment movement plans and respond to operational changes.
- Overseeing freight planning and staging to maximise safety and operational efficiency.
- Leading Load Planners and operational teams to deliver secure, compliant and efficient outcomes.
- Conducting pre-start meetings, toolbox talks and driver debriefings.
- Managing site presentation, maintenance and operational facilities.
- Maintaining operational records and contributing to regular and ad hoc reporting.
- Supporting continuous improvement across safety, service delivery and operational performance.

What you'll need:
- Diploma level qualification or equivalent (mandatory).
- Relevant tertiary qualification (desirable).
- 3-5 years' experience in a similar transport or logistics leadership role.
- Previous fleet and/or driver management experience.
- Strong understanding of road transport operations, including safety and compliance requirements.
- Dangerous Goods Licence.
- Load Restraint Certificate.
- Vehicle Compliance knowledge.
- Fatigue Management and Chain of Responsibility accreditation (desirable).
- Well-developed leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office and computer skills.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to understand financial reports.
- Operational execution capability.
- High levels of personal drive and self-motivation.
- The right to live and work in Australia.
