Profectus is seeking a Linux Software Engineer to support the development and sustainment of secure ICT capability within an Australian Government setting. You will design, build, and support production systems, developing and integrating software components and automating solution installation across secure infrastructure. Working within a small, focused engineering team, you will help take a capability through its uplift to production and provide ongoing support once it is live.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and document secure system nodes and contribute technical advice on interfacing systems
- Develop, integrate, and maintain software components and applications
- Automate solution installation, configuration, and customisation
- Build, administer, and support production Linux-based nodes across secure infrastructure
- Perform Level 3 support of production systems, including fault finding and resolution of complex issues
- Baseline and maintain system configuration control and software lists
- Develop and implement patch management plans aligned to technical baselines
- Develop standard operating procedures and technical documentation
- Transfer knowledge to support personnel and contribute to training material development
Required Experience
- Extensive experience in software development, ideally 8 or more years
- Proven experience developing software for Linux operating systems
- Experience customising and administering Linux-based servers and applications
- Experience hardening Linux operating systems in secure environments
- Experience automating and scripting application installation and customisation
- Experience developing and maintaining Linux standard operating environment (SOE) images
- Experience developing technical documentation
- Experience applying DevOps methodologies
- Ability to provide technical advice grounded in wider business requirements
Desirable Experience
- Experience working with deployable communication and information systems (CIS)
- Understanding of systems engineering processes
- Knowledge of the Defence Capability Lifecycle
- Experience working within an agile project management framework
- Experience developing Ansible scripting
- Experience with OpenStack
- Experience developing and maintaining Linux standard operating environments (SOE)
Security Clearance Requirements
- Must be an Australian Citizen
- Current NV2 Security Clearance is required
