Havas Health is looking for a talented Medical Writer to join our team and support the development of medical and scientific communications for some of the world’s leading healthcare brands.

This role is suited to a Medical Writer with around 2 years’ experience. Your primary role will be to work as a medical content lead and to support our accounts team in preparing and delivering medical and scientific communication materials, both print and digital. You will demonstrate ownership and independence with your accounts, contribute to strategic thinking, and support Associate Medical Writers as needed.

You will report directly to a Senior Medical Writer for training and personal development and may be assigned to work with other Medical Writers in the business, providing support on different projects as needed. Medical Writers are required to work across many different therapy areas and pharmaceutical products, but there will be the opportunity to specialise in a particular area that you find interesting.

Roles and Responsibilities

- Support Senior Medical Writers or act as the lead Medical Writer on assigned accounts, taking ownership of preparing scientific materials with high accuracy and compliance
- Develop high-quality copy for materials such as print and digital campaigns, e-detail aids, emails, and MSL slide decks
- Translate complex scientific data into clear, compelling, and strategically aligned narratives for healthcare professionals
- Interpret project briefs from Account Services and seek clarification where required
- Review draft copy prepared by Associate Medical Writers and provide feedback
- Action client amends for second-round copy in preparation for studio




- Ensure all materials comply with the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct
- Maintain writing style guides for your assigned accounts
- Conduct independent desk research into therapy areas, competitive landscapes, and emerging clinical data

Client interaction and contribution

- Interpret client brand plans and proactively identify scientific or strategic opportunities
- Contribute scientific insights during internal planning sessions
- Participate in client calls and meetings, presenting your work and rationale
- Flag risks, gaps, or strategic considerations to the account lead
- Support the development of proactive proposals that align to client brand plans to drive business growth

Medical team and collaboration

- Contribute to and take ownership of key initiatives within the medical team, with support from Senior Medical Writers and the Executive Director
- Participate in weekly medical team meetings and contribute to discussions
- Contribute ideas and opinions during internal brainstorms to help solve client briefs
- Identify and proactively raise potential process issues (e.g., incomplete brief, unclear timelines) with a Senior Medical Writer or the Executive Director
- Collaborate effectively with account, medical, and studio teams

Training and development





- Demonstrate continuous professional development in scientific/medical knowledge and writing capability

Required qualifications and experience

- At least 2 years of medical or scientific writing experience
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a healthcare or science-related field

- Strong scientific literacy with the ability to translate scientific data into engaging narratives
- Ability to independently interpret a project brief and then work closely with a project team to solve it
- Experience in taking ownership of key projects or accounts
- Strong organisational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Problem-solving abilities
- An in-depth understanding of the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct
- Openness to feedback and a willingness to learn, adapt, and continuously develop medical writing and critical‑thinking skills
