Position Summary:
The Microvellum Draftsperson is responsible for producing accurate technical drawings, production files, and documentation for custom joinery projects, including kitchens, wardrobes, and architectural cabinetry. The role requires advanced Microvellum proficiency, a strong understanding of joinery construction, and the ability to collaborate effectively with design, production and workshop teams.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
The Employee shall
- Prepare detailed technical drawings, plans, and material lists using Microvellum CAD software.
- Interpret architectural plans, sketches, and specifications to create accurate production-ready documentation.
- Prepare, manage, and maintain drawing files and project documentation in an organised and traceable manner.
- Ensure all drawings align with company manufacturing standards, material specifications, and construction methods.
- Assist with CNC integration, including file preparation and troubleshooting for Biesse CNC machinery.
- Liaise with project managers, designers, and workshop staff to ensure accuracy, manufacturability, and project feasibility.
- Make revisions and updates to drawings as required by design changes, client requests, or production needs.
- Identify potential production or design issues and provide solutions to improve efficiency and quality.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant codes, regulations, and internal quality standards.
- Meet project deadlines and maintain effective communication regarding progress and deliverables.
Skills & Experience Required:
The Employee must possess
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience with Microvellum (essential).
- Solid understanding of joinery construction, cabinetmaking principles, materials, and hardware.
- Experience with Biesse CNC machinery and associated file preparation (advantageous).
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.
- Sound communication, organisational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a workshop environment.
- Ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality documentation consistently.
Performance Expectations:
- Drawings must be accurate, complete, and compliant with manufacturing standards.
- Files must be delivered within agreed timeframes.
- Work must support efficient workshop production and minimise errors or rework.
- Professional communication and collaboration with internal teams is required at all times.
