As a Heavy Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for the servicing, repair, and maintenance of a fleet of underground mobile plant equipment, including:
- Loaders (e.g., CAT R2900, Sandvik LH517i & LH621i)
- Trucks (e.g., CAT AD30, Sandvik TH663i)
- Drills (e.g., Sandvik DD421 & DS421, Epiroc Simba E70S)
- Ancillary equipment such as IT loaders, underground agitators, concrete spraying equipment, telehandlers, and light vehicles

- Ancillary equipment such as IT loaders, underground agitators, concrete spraying equipment, telehandlers, and light vehicles
Conditions
This is a 7/7 roster (days and nights), and commute options include residential, DIDO or FIFO from Brisbane or Sydney.
Candidates interested in DIDO or FIFO will be provided with commute single accommodation and meals at the mine camp.
CSA also provides Pool & Gym Reimbursements to our employees and their dependants.
Location
Located an eight-hour drive to Sydney, nine-hour drive to Melbourne, and a quick three-hour drive to Dubbo, Cobar is a fascinating town rich in mining heritage and natural attractions. Entertainment options include restaurants, pubs,
and clubs for dining out. You will be kept busy with a bowling and golf club, rugby and rugby league teams, race club, pony club, Olympic size swimming pool, gym – and more! The town boasts beautiful parks, two reservoirs, picnic areas and playgrounds. The youth club 'Youthie' is a vibrant children’s hub with a games room, gym and weights room, squash courts, sauna, indoor stadium, outdoor basketball court and a skate park.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical & hydraulic issues on heavy diesel equipment
- Perform scheduled maintenance and breakdown repairs
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure equipment safety and compliance
- Work collaboratively within the maintenance department to improve fleet reliability
- Maintain accurate service records and follow site safety procedures
Qualifications
- Trade qualification as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic (or equivalent)
- Experience in underground hard rock maintenance (preferred but not essential)
- Solid diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Basic auto electrical knowledge & troubleshooting skills
- Commitment to workplace safety and compliance
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
