About the RoleWe are seeking an enthusiastic, welcoming and approachable people to join our friendly and supportive Cultural Services team as a Relief Officers.

As a Relief Officer you are the first person our visitors meet at Cockman House, Wanneroo Regional Museum or Wanneroo Gallery. It is a role with genuine influence over the quality of a visitor’s day – welcoming people, orienting them to the site, and sharing the stories behind our collections, exhibitions and heritage places in a way that sparks curiosity and connection.

Beyond front of house, you will provide flexible relief support across the Culture and Events team – assisting with the delivery of school, public and community arts programs, helping install and de-install exhibitions, and providing administrative support as required.

These are casual positions that require successful candidates to be available for full day or part day shifts, and occasional evenings, Monday through to Sunday.

Role responsibilities:

- Welcome and orient visitors, delivering warm, inclusive and age-appropriate engagement for visitors, school and community groups including public tours;
- Respond to visitor enquiries and monitor visitor flow, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of visitors and the protection of collections, artworks and heritage sites;
- front of house operations, including opening and closing procedures and maintaining public and exhibition spaces to a professional standard;
- support the preparation, delivery and pack-down of museum, gallery and community arts programs, public programs, events and exhibitions;
- assist with the installation and de-installation of exhibitions and artworks, including the movement, placement and condition-checking of works under supervision;
- administrative support including bookings, data entry, correspondence, scheduling,



research and the maintenance of registers and databases; and
- support the Museum Curator and Gallery Curator, working collaboratively with Engagement Officers and the wider Cultural Services team.

About YouYou are a natural communicator who enjoys meeting people of all ages and backgrounds, and you move comfortably between a quiet gallery, a busy school group and a heritage house. You bring strong customer service experience, an interest in arts, culture and heritage, sensitivity to First Nations perspectives and diverse community experiences, and the flexibility to work across multiple sites as part of a large and diverse team.

To be considered further, please submit a resume and cover letter (of no more than two pages) addressing the following:

- Demonstrated experience in visitor services, public programs, front of house, hospitality or a related customer-facing role;
- Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills, with a genuine enthusiasm for engaging with people of all ages and backgrounds;
- Experience working with diverse community audiences, including families, school groups, and culturally and linguistically diverse visitors;
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team, including contributing to the physical set-up and pack-down of programs, events and exhibitions;
- Foundational computing, numeracy, literacy and administrative skills, including keyboard and data entry; and
- Current Working with Children Check.

Completion if Year 12 or equivalent is required. An interest in, or knowledge of, cultural heritage, local history, museums or the arts sector is desirable, as is a current driver’s licence.
