Operations Manager - Disability Services

Help shape the next chapter of Kind Humans
Kind Humans Support Services is a growing disability support provider built on a simple belief: people deserve support that is genuinely human.
Kindness, accountability, respect and genuine relationships guide how we support participants, work with families and lead our team. As we prepare for our next stage of growth across Queensland, we are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to strengthen our day-to-day operations and help build the systems and practices needed for the future.
This is an opportunity to join Kind Humans at an important point in our journey and make a meaningful contribution to what the organisation becomes.
About the role
The Operations Manager will work closely with the Director to lead the day-to-day operations of Kind Humans. You will provide hands on leadership and support to administration staff and support workers, oversee key participant and workforce processes, strengthen organisational systems and help ensure our services remain safe, compliant and person-centred as we grow.
Our application for NDIS registration has been submitted, and preparing for the audit process will be an key initial priority. You will help coordinate audit readiness, review documentation and practices, identify gaps and support the implementation of any required improvements.
While registration is an immediate focus, this is a broader operational leadership role with ongoing responsibility for our people, participant services, compliance and continuous improvement.
The Director will retain responsibility for strategic direction, governance and significant employment matters. The Operations Manager will lead daily operations within agreed responsibilities and delegations.
Key responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- leading the day-to-day operations of Kind Humans
- leading workforce scheduling, invoicing and payroll processes
- providing supervision, guidance and practical support to administration staff and support workers
- supporting recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning, and staff development
- managing participant documentation, including Service Agreements, Care Plans and operational records
- overseeing incident management, complaints management and participant safeguarding
- coordinating mandatory training, worker screening and workforce compliance
- leading preparation for the NDIS registration audit
- reviewing policies, records and operational practices to identify and address compliance gaps
- coordinating audit evidence, action registers and corrective actions
- supporting the implementation of governance, quality and compliance systems
- identifying practical improvements to systems, processes and participant services
- helping maintain continuity of support when operational challenges arise
- contributing to the responsible growth of Kind Humans across Queensland.
About you
We are looking for someone who combines strong operational capability with sound judgement, personal integrity and genuine care for people. You understand that good operations are not only about systems and compliance; they are also about supporting staff well, communicating clearly, following through and making decisions that protect the people we support.
You will ideally bring
- a relevant qualification in disability, community services, health, business, leadership or a related area, or substantial equivalent experience
- operational leadership experience within disability, NDIS, community services, health or aged care
- experience supervising staff and supporting recruitment, onboarding, rostering and performance matters
- strong knowledge of the NDIS Practice Standards, NDIS Code of Conduct, incident management and participant safeguarding
- experience with audit readiness, quality systems, compliance or regulatory requirements
- confidence maintaining accurate participant and workforce records
- experience implementing policies, procedures and quality improvements
- strong written communication and reporting skills
- confidence using rostering, participant-management, document-management and Google Workspace systems
- the ability to manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgement and escalate significant risks appropriately.
Direct experience supporting an NDIS registration or certification audit would be highly regarded, as would experience in quality management, internal auditing, human resources or organisational growth.
The person who will thrive here
You are likely to be someone who:
- is calm, practical and dependable
- takes ownership and follows through
- can bring structure without creating unnecessary bureaucracy
- understands that compliance must be reflected in everyday practice
- enjoys helping staff become more confident, capable and accountable
- communicates honestly and respectfully
- is comfortable working in an organisation that is growing and continuing to develop its systems
- wants their work to have a visible impact on participants, families and staff.
We are not looking for someone who wants to impose a corporate approach. We are looking for someone who can strengthen our systems and accountability while protecting the warmth, flexibility and genuine relationships that make Kind Humans who we are.
Why join Kind Humans?
You will have the opportunity to:
- work directly with the Director and contribute to meaningful organisational decisions
- play an important role in our NDIS registration journey
- help shape systems and practices rather than simply inherit them
- support and develop a growing team
- contribute to the future direction of a values-led disability provider.
Your work will be visible, valued and closely connected to the people who rely on Kind Humans.
