Salary $130,000 + Super based on Full Time + Super (adjusted for pro-rata part-time hours at hourly rate of $62.50).

About the role GEO Healthcare operates in 13 Victorian Men’s Public Prisons providing primary healthcare services to the prisoner population. Travel across Victoria will be required for this role.
- Provide outpatient care for patients with eye-related disorders and conditions - Conduct routine eye examinations, including visual field tests - Determine each patient’s visual acuity, field of vision and hand-eye coordination - Take detailed medical histories for all patients, including current and past prescription medications - Evaluate eye-related symptoms, such as discharge, redness and inflammation - Explain optometry procedures to patients and answer related questions.
- Prepare patients for eye examination procedures.
- Monitor and care for patients during the procedure, to ensure their safety and comfort.
- Examine eye and related images, looking for differences between healthy and pathological areas.
- There will be a requirement tofollow up clients to order and fit prescription lenses and frames as needed - Determine if the scope of the examination should be extended, based on preliminary findings.
- Document all occasions of service and maintain the patient’s history and medical records.
- Maintain and clean the optometry equipment.
- Coordinate the implementation of optometry services at the assigned GEO Healthcare locations.
- Appropriate qualification in Optometry and AHPRA registration.
- Demonstrated experience working as an Optometrist.
- Ability to work to full scope of clinical practice.
Other Requirements of the role:
- Ability to work within a prison setting, which will involve direct contact with people in prison associated with the delivery of healthcare.
- Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Working outside of ordinary business hours may be required.
