Eating House is a busy, established full-service restaurant in Rowville, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week, together with functions and catering.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Junior Sous Chef to join our kitchen leadership team.

This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced Chef de Partie, Senior Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef who is ready to take on greater responsibility in a fast-paced, high-volume commercial kitchen.

Responsibilities

- Prepare, cook and present menu items to Eating House standards
- Lead assigned kitchen sections during preparation and service
- Assist with coordinating kitchen service and workflow
- Maintain consistent food quality, portioning and presentation
- Supervise, train and support chefs, cooks, kitchen attendants and apprentices
- Assist with ordering, stock rotation, inventory control and waste reduction
- Maintain food-safety, cleanliness and workplace-safety standards
- Communicate effectively with kitchen, management and front-of-house teams
- Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef with daily kitchen operations




- Step into additional kitchen leadership responsibilities when required

Skills and experience

- Demonstrated experience in a busy, high-volume commercial restaurant kitchen
- Experience as a Chef de Partie, Senior Chef de Partie, Junior Sous Chef or in a comparable skilled chef role
- Confidence working across multiple kitchen sections
- Strong organisation, communication and service-leadership skills
- Ability to remain calm and practical during busy services
- Strong understanding of food quality, presentation, hygiene and food safety
- A relevant commercial cookery qualification is preferred
- Applicants must currently hold full Australian working rights for this vacancy
