About The Simpson Barracks
Simpson Barracks is located at Yallambie (approx. 40 mins North‑East of Melbourne CBD). Predominately a Forces Command training base supporting Defence Force School of Signals (tri‑service technicians & operators, electronic warfare systems), Defence Force School of Music (tri‑service musicians) and Army Education Centre. The Army base services approximately 6000 Defence members and operates a 9 bed low dependency ward 24/7.
The health centre also provides primary medical, nursing, physiotherapy, dental and mental health services. Standard operating hours are generally 07:30 – 15:30 Monday – Friday (depending on role requirements and specific craft groups required for weekend and on‑call shifts).
What You’ll Do
- Deliver high quality primary healthcare, including health assessments and vaccinations or monitor and manage patients in a low dependency ward setting
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including general practitioners, physios, mental health clinicians, and dental professionals
- Support Defence members through injury recovery, chronic condition management, and preventative care
What You Bring
- Unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
- Minimum one year Registered Nurse experience in acute care, primary health care or military setting
- Current CPR certification (HLTAID009)
- Australian Citizenship required (Baseline Security Clearance)
- Commitment to CPD and ethical, patient centred care
- Ability to work a 24/7 roster
- This role is primarily Monday to Sunday (AM, PM and Night Shift) within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
