Suncoast Christian College is a well-established Pre-Prep to Year 12 co-educational College of over 1,000 students, situated on the beautiful Sunshine Coast.
The College is excited to announce that we have a full-time opportunity available for an experienced 1.0FTE Secondary Design Technologies Teacher to join the College on a permanent basis. The successful applicant will teach Design Technologies across years 7 to 12.
The role will commence during Start Up Week of Term 1 on Monday 18 January 2027.
The ideal candidate will have solid practical skills and experience in Industrial Technology (welding, woodwork etc), with particular expertise in engineering and manufacturing processes. They should be confident working in workshop environments and capable of delivering engaging, hands-on learning experiences that align with the Australian Curriculum.
The successful applicant will demonstrate a commitment to the ongoing development and refinement of the Design Technology program, ensuring it continues to meet the diverse needs of our learners through innovative and authentic learning opportunities.
They will also be motivated to drive continuous improvement within our practical learning spaces by maintaining high standards of safety, organisation, and functionality, while contributing to the long-term development of workshop facilities and resources.
The successful candidate will:
- Support the College's Christian ethos, recognising each student's individual potential and fostering their development.
- Deliver engaging and innovative Design Technologies programs that develop creativity, problem-solving skills, design thinking, and practical application of knowledge.
- Plan,
prepare and deliver quality learning experiences aligned with the Australian Curriculum and QCAA requirements.
- Teach and assess students in a range of design and manufacturing contexts, integrating both theoretical and practical learning experiences.
- Safely manage workshops, tools, equipment and resources, ensuring compliance with Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
- Assess and report on student progress using a variety of assessment tools.
- Use data to inform teaching practice and support student growth.
- Integrate digital technologies, industry-relevant practices and contemporary design processes into classroom learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum resources and participate in faculty planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Build strong, professional relationships with students, colleagues and parents.
- Support the College's commitment to high standards of teaching, learning and student well-being.
- Contribute positively to the broader life of the College through co-curricular and community activities.
Essential Requirements:
- Relevant teaching qualifications and current Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration.
- Demonstrated experience teaching Secondary Design Technologies.
- Strong practical workshop and classroom management skills.
- Knowledge of Australian Curriculum and/or QCAA Design Technologies syllabuses.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and productive learning environment.
- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to supporting the Christian mission, vision and values of Suncoast Christian College.
