As our organisation continues to grow and the industrial landscape becomes increasingly complex, we're seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to ensure our people are paid accurately, compliantly and on time while providing expert advice Award interpretation and payroll best practice.
This is a permanent part time position (15 hours per week) offering flexibility a within our hybrid workiing model.
The Prospect
This is far more than a payroll processing role.
We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys navigating the complexities of Modern Awards and employment legislation, takes pride in accuracy, and understands that every payslip represents a person's livelihood and trust in their employer.
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, you'll take ownership of our fortnightly payroll consistently performing alongside the below key role accountabilities.
What You'll Be Doing
- Managing the end-to-end fortnightly payroll process with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.
- Applying expert knowledge of the SCHADS Award, National Employment Standards and payroll legislation.
- Ensuring correct application of allowances, penalties, overtime, leave entitlements and employee benefits.
- Reconciling payroll data and maintaining accurate payroll records.
- Providing advice and support to managers and employees regarding payroll matters and award interpretation.
- Investigating and resolving payroll queries and discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Preparing payroll reports, analysing workforce data and supporting budget planning.
- Monitoring legislative and Award changes to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Identifying opportunities to improve payroll systems, processes and reporting.
- Supporting internal payroll audits and maintaining robust payroll governance.
About You You're someone who enjoys solving complex payroll challenges and understands that payroll is about much more than processing transactions, it's about accuracy, compliance, trust and supporting people.
You bring exceptional attention to detail, enjoy interpreting Awards and legislation, and have the confidence to partner with managers while delivering outstanding service to employees.
What you’ll Bring
- Demonstrated experience managing a complex payroll function within the SCHADS Award.
- Strong knowledge of Modern Awards, the Fair Work Act and National Employment Standards.
- Experience learning and using payroll platforms such as FoundU, Employment Hero, KeyPay, FlowLogic or similar systems.
- Excellent analytical and reconciliation skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- The ability to confidently interpret Award provisions and explain payroll outcomes clearly.
- Strong organisational & time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and payroll deadlines.
- Experience preparing payroll reports and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- A collaborative approach and commitment to confidentiality, professionalism and integrity.
- Previous experience within the disability, community services, aged care or not-for-profit sector will be highly regarded.
