Trade Instructor — Ravenhall Correctional Centre
Full‑Time salary $85,000 – 89,000 plus superannuation.
Fixed Term 6 months, possibility of extension.

Ravenhall Correctional Centre is a state‑of‑the‑art facility that supports the continuum of care model, extending into the community via the GEO Community Reintegration Centre.
What You Will Do
As a Trade Instructor on the Vocational Services team, you will use your trade expertise to directly impact prisoners' development through hands‑on training and skill acquisition. Your key responsibilities include:
- Deliver hands‑on trade training and ensure that prisoners are inducted and competent in the safe use of equipment.
- Develop and review training plans for industry plant and equipment.
- Supervise production processes, manage quality control, and meet client specifications.
- Promote and maintain OH&S; compliance in line with ISO 45001 standards.
- Participate in case management by recording engagement and progress.
- Conduct staff inductions, refresher training, and attend relevant meetings.
- Maximise training opportunities through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Report incidents and security breaches in accordance with regulations.
- Support employment pathways for prisoners and assist with vehicle movements when required.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and governance standards.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Trade Expertise: Relevant qualifications and hands‑on experience in metal, steel, or boil‑maker work.
- Training & Supervision Skills: Ability to mentor and instruct in a fair, professional manner.
- Production Knowledge: Experience managing targets, deadlines, inventory, and quality control.
- Safety Focus: Strong understanding of OH&S; requirements and safe work practices.
- Communication Skills: Ability to engage and negotiate with diverse groups effectively.
- Problem‑Solving: Capacity to apply creative solutions and initiate improvements.
- Technical Ability: Competence in operating a range of machinery and equipment.
Desirable: Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, First Aid certification, and correctional industry experience.
