Fancy putting your GIS skills to work on one of the most significant environmental protection programs in the state? Osborne Richardson is partnering with a major Queensland Government environmental biosecurity initiative to find a Planning Support Officer (GIS) to join their Fire Ant Suppression Taskforce (FAST) in Berrinba in Brisbane.

This is a cracking opportunity to be part of the fight against fire ants across South East Queensland — using your geospatial know-how to enable and sustain large-scale aerial treatment programs across the region.

What you'll be doing:

- Producing accurate GIS maps and data to support aerial treatment operations by contracted RPAS (drone) and helicopter crews
- Mapping consented properties and defining work lot boundaries for the Aerial Treatment Program
- Monitoring and editing spatial data for accuracy, maintaining electronic and hard copy records, and flagging data integrity issues
- Contributing to the development and refinement of program procedures and protocols
- Supporting the FAST management team in hitting operational targets and reviewing job creation processes
- Mentoring and training newer or less experienced team members
- Participating in user acceptance testing and system upgrade feedback




- Exporting, reviewing and collating reports and data for management decision-making

What we're looking for:

1. Highly proficient working knowledge of GIS systems and geospatial data management (ArcGIS experience highly regarded)
2. Ability to interpret and apply technical, professional and project information across a quick-moving operational environment
3. Strong organisational skills — able to set priorities and manage workflow independently with only general direction
4. High attention to detail and a commitment to data integrity and quality assurance
5. Advanced communication and stakeholder liaison skills, both internal and with external suppliers
6. A proactive, problem-solving mindset comfortable operating in undefined or evolving areas

What's on offer:

- $59.16/hr + Super
- Based in Berrinba, Southern Brisbane with standard work hours
- Contract through to 31 December 2026, with strong potential for extension given the program's ongoing funding outlook
