We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Aged or Disability Carer to join the MEDIHEAL Disability Services team in Cannington, WA. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people who require support and assistance. As an Aged or Disability Carer, you will provide essential care and support services to individuals with aged care needs or disability support requirements, helping them maintain their independence, dignity and quality of life whilst living in the community.
Key responsibilities
1. Provide personal care assistance including bathing, grooming, toileting and dressing in a respectful and dignified manner
2. Support clients with mobility and transferring, using appropriate manual handling techniques and equipment
3. Assist with meal preparation, feeding and nutritional support as required
4. Perform household tasks including cleaning, laundry and shopping to maintain a safe living environment
5. Provide medication reminders and support clients in taking prescribed medications
6. Offer companionship and emotional support to enhance wellbeing and social engagement
7. Maintain accurate and timely records of care provided and client progress
8. Report any concerns or changes in client health or behaviour to management promptly
9. Work collaboratively with other team members, healthcare professionals and family members
10. Maintain confidentiality and respect client privacy at all times
11. Follow all health and safety protocols and adhere to duty of care responsibilities
What we're looking for
1. A current Certificate III in Disability Support Services, Aged Care Support or equivalent recognised qualification
2. A current valid First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
3. A clear Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) clearance or willingness to obtain one
4. Demonstrated experience working in aged care, disability support or community services
5. Strong empathy,
patience and compassionate approach to care provision
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients
7. The ability to work independently and use sound judgement in decision-making
8. Physical fitness to perform manual handling and personal care tasks safely
9. Reliability, punctuality and commitment to meeting client needs
10. A flexible approach to work, including willingness to work varied hours and weekends as required
11. A valid driver's licence and access to reliable transport (desirable)
